Famous Dogs And Their Breeds

Dogs are everywhere. They’re in our homes, on our TV, in movies and advertisements, and all over social media. We can’t escape them! But that’s a good thing. Dogs are wonderful companions to humans that make our lives brighter and happier.

So let’s take a look at some celebrity dogs and learn a little about their breeds.

1. Rin Tin Tin: German shepherd
   Rin Tin Tin was a famous movie dog who was rescued by an  American soldier from a World War I battlefield. He was in 27 Hollywood films and became an international star. Related German shepherds were given the name Rin Tin Tin to carry on his acting legacy.Today, German shepherds are one of the most recognizable and popular dog breeds. They are great family dogs because they’re loyal, as well as excellent guard dogs.
2. Lassie: Collie
   Lassie was a collie dog who was in movies and television shows. The TV show Lassie is the fourth longest running primetime series in the United States and followed the adventures of Lassie and her human companion Timmy.Collies are known for their protecting and herding qualities. They can form close bonds with humans, understanding our moods, and love playing with children.
3. Beethoven: Saint Bernard
   Beethoven is a Saint Bernard dog who appeared in the movie “Beethoven” in 1992 (and with whom Cesar appeared in the 1993 sequel “Beethoven’s 2nd.”) Beethoven is a huge, slobbering dog who causes hilarious trouble for his loving family.Saint Bernards are often called “genial giants.” They are lovable, trainable, family dogs who are great with kids. Just make sure your Saint Bernard knows not to jump on people!
4. Marley: Yellow Labrador
   Marley is the yellow Labrador made famous by the book and 2008 movie “Marley & Me.” In the story, a family learns life lessons from their cute and naughty dog. If you haven’t seen it, make sure you watch it with a box of tissues nearby.The Labrador retriever is the most popular dog breed in the United States. They come in three colors — yellow, black, and chocolate — and are excellent guide dogs, service dogs, and law enforcement dogs.
5. The Target Dog: Bull Terrier
   The official mascot of Target is Bullseye the Bull Terrier. Bullseye appears in Target commercials, print ads, and signs all over Target stores. Bullseye is always seen with a bullseye logo painted around his left eye.Bull Terriers might seem unapproachable with their muscular build, but they are sweet, playful, friendly dogs. Bull Terriers also hardly ever bark! If they do happen to bark, pay attention: there’s probably a good reason.
6. Cesar Dog Food: West Highland White Terrier
   Cesar dog food — which is not associated in any way with our very own Cesar Millan — features a West Highland white terrier dog. Westies are very popular small terriers, and you can’t help but smile at their adorable faces. Westies were bred to hunt furry creatures, so they’ll chase after anything that moves.
7. Heinz Dog: Dachshund
   The Heinz Ketchup dogs are dachshunds, which are commonly known as wiener dogs. They were originally  bred to hunt badgers, hence their name — which is a combination of the German words for badger (Dachs) and dog (Hund). Dachshunds are friendly and sometimes stubborn, but they’re known for their long body that’s close to the ground. They can have smooth, wirehaired, or longhaired coats and are great hunters even though they love to cuddle on your lap.
8. Zippy: Mutt (Blue Heeler and Border Collie Mix)
   Zippy is a blue heeler and Border collie mutt who appears on the Nickelodeon TV show “Mutt & Stuff.”Blue heelers are excellent herders with a beautiful blue or red speckled coat. Border collies are athletic dogs known for their “herding eye,” an intensive gaze. Calvin Millan — Cesar Millan’s younger son — is also one of the stars of “Mutt & Stuff,” along with Zippy the dog!
9. Daddy: Pit Bull
   Daddy was seen in the TV Show “Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan” and was especially important to Cesar’s work in canine rehabilitation until he passed away in 2010.Pit bulls get a bad rap for being aggressive dogs, but Cesar called Daddy his “right-hand man” and said he never made a mistake. Pit bulls are known for being strong, confident dogs. As long as they are with the right pack leader, they are friendly, family dogs that love children.
